Tube Cold Plates 004
What Is an Embedded Tube Liquid Cold Plate?
Embedded tube cold plates insert copper, aluminum, or stainless steel tubes into a base plate, using fluid movement to cool and dissipate heat. Their dimensions, shapes, and fluid paths can be customized for optimal thermal performance, and they can also undergo custom coating, drilling, and tapping.

✓1. Embedded Tube Liquid Cold Plate
✓Mostly aluminum-based with embedded copper tubes. First, the aluminum substrate is CNC milled, then the bent copper tube is pressed onto the aluminum substrate using a stamping press, followed by brazing and welding, and then processed into a liquid cold plate.
✓The embedded tube process is divided into two types: shallow buried pipe process and deep buried pipe process
✓Shallow buried pipe process: the copper tube is pressed into a groove inside the aluminum substrate, causing it to deform, and then fly-cutting is performed on the surface.
✓Deep buried pipe process: the copper tube is placed into a deep groove inside the aluminum substrate, filled with high-thermal-conductivity epoxy resin. When the temperature difference requirements for the cooling device are not high, it can be installed on both sides. Since the copper tube thickness does not undergo secondary processing and is protected by the filler, application safety is ensured.
✓2. Welded Liquid Cold Plate
✓Suitable for copper plate + copper tube configuration, reducing plate thickness to achieve weight reduction.
✓3. Double-Side Clamp Tube Process Liquid Cold Plate

Embedded Tube Liquid Cold Plate Design Considerations
Cost-Effectiveness Considerations
A tube is placed between two plates; this technology is simple and low-cost. Combinations can include aluminum plate + aluminum tube / copper tube / SUS tube.
1. High heat dissipation efficiency: good cooling effect, excellent temperature uniformity, faster cooling, suitable for applications requiring rapid cooling.
2. Supports more complex designs: flow paths can be arranged reasonably based on heat source location; flow path shapes can be achieved by bending tubes, enabling precise thermal design and avoiding excessive temperature differences in the system.
3. Other: also features corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and uniform heat dissipation.
1. Substrate Selection: Avoid using two metals with significantly different electrode potentials in the same system to reduce electrochemical corrosion.
2. Cold Plate Type Selection: Choose based on the liquid cooling system structure and whether it bears heavy loads.
3. Flow Rate Determination: Since water-cooled systems are relatively large, full-system simulation analysis is generally not performed. Instead, the water-cooled radiator flow rate is set first, and then the pump is matched based on the corresponding system flow resistance. Once total heat and the working fluid's physical properties are determined, flow rate and temperature rise are inversely proportional.
