A skived fin heat sink is formed by using a skiving tool to precisely cut a single piece of base material (aluminum or copper) from the top, folding it back to a perpendicular position relative to the base, and repeating at set intervals to create fins. Skived fin heat sinks can achieve thinner fins with higher density, increasing the heat dissipation area per unit volume and thereby improving thermal efficiency.
